Thomas Carmon born in De Smet South Dakota, graduated from Colorado State University with a BA in Humanities.  He then joined the United States Army as a medic. After finishing his duty he moved to Orlando Florida and worked in the graphic department for a real estate magazine, he left this to pursue a nursing degree. During this time, he continued working on improving his skills as an artist, taking live drawing classes at Crealde, painting in oils, and in most recent years began exploring encaustics.

“Whatever subject may present itself to me whether it be figurative, landscape, portraits, or abstraction, I rely on the masters of yesterday and today to inform my use of darkness and light, to school me in shadows and lost edges. With this series, the juxtaposition of organic human forms within the geometric spaces has challenged me with the use of color, shapes and temperature. The gestural markings create a sense of movement and storytelling.”
